Data Through Design
\nCall for Proposals<\/h1>\n

Data Through Design (DxD)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is now accepting proposals for our 2024 exhibition,\u00a0Aftermath<\/strong>. We invite artists, data professionals, designers, scientists, historians, activists, coders, policymakers, and other creative professionals to submit their proposals for projects to be presented in the DxD exhibition in March of 2024 as part of New York City\u2019s\u00a0Open Data Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Our 2024 exhibition theme is\u00a0Aftermath<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We live in a perpetual state of aftermath. The data we collect today represent reverberations of past events; edited, interpreted, and distilled to tell a story of history. Data drives our narratives and shapes not only the future but also our vision of the future \u2014 a narrative of us and where we expect to be. Who is telling that story, and how does the aftermath of events shape how it\u2019s told?<\/p>\n

This year, we invite artists to explore how data reflects (and does not reflect) these lived aftermaths and to interpret the idea of aftermath through data. How does data define and organize time and space in our articulations about the world? How has the past molded our present and how will we sustain our future? Will we drown in a flood of information or make meaning from the mess…?<\/p>\n

\nEligibility<\/strong>:\u00a0 applicants must be approved to work in the US in order to be paid a stipend<\/p>\n

About DxD<\/strong>
\nData Through Design (DxD)<\/a>\u00a0is an annual exhibition celebrating tangible and multimedia expressions of New York City\u2019s Open Data. It provides space for creative engagement with data and new perspectives and understanding of its role in our society. DxD\u00a0is organized by\u00a0an independent, volunteer-run collective<\/a>\u00a0and every\u00a0contribution to DxD<\/a>\u00a0goes to supporting our artists, the exhibition, and keeping our events free and open to the public.\u00a0The DxD exhibition is part of\u00a0NYC Open Data Week<\/a>, a week-long series of events and workshops organized by our partners at the\u00a0NYC Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0BetaNYC<\/a>. DxD is funded, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by the\u00a0Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
