Design and Technology Teacher – Full Time<\/p>\n

Franklin School \u2013 Jersey City, NJ<\/p>\n

Position Overview<\/p>\n

Franklin School, an innovative coeducational high school in Jersey City, NJ, is currently seeking a self-directed, experienced, and energetic High School Design and Technology for the 2024-2025 academic year.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Teach multiple sections of Design-Engineering Technology and\/or Computer Science classes in grades 9-12.<\/li>\n
  • Collaborate with department members to maintain makerspaces<\/li>\n
  • Collaborate closely with other subject teachers in support of horizontal and vertical planning<\/li>\n
  • Work with faculty on the increased integration of purposeful technology in their curricula, refreshing existing curricula with innovative uses of technology where appropriate<\/li>\n
  • Model innovative technology use for other faculty members<\/li>\n
  • Foster a positive and constructive learning community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Qualifications<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Engineering, Art, Design or related field required<\/li>\n
    • Teaching experience in one or more of the following disciplines: design, entrepreneurship and\/or maker education<\/li>\n
    • Experience in curriculum development, project-based learning and facilitation of workshops or classes<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency with design thinking, digital fabrication tools (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines), coding, and electronics. Familiarity with Adobe and Autodesk software and basic programming languages.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and the community to develop and implement interdisciplinary projects.<\/li>\n
    • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt one’s own skills.<\/li>\n
    • A creative approach to problem-solving and a willingness to experiment with new teaching methods and technologies.<\/li>\n
    • A genuine enthusiasm for maker culture and hands-on learning, and the ability to inspire this passion in students.<\/li>\n
    • A focus on connecting classroom learning to real-world applications, ensuring that students understand the relevance of their work.<\/li>\n
    • Experience teaching to a range of learners<\/li>\n
    • Eager to contribute positively to the Franklin community<\/li>\n
    • Willingness to engage with and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Compensation:<\/p>\n

      • $60,000-$120,000\/year<\/li>\n
