This is our 9th OSL Summer Program which is a Smithsonian National Design Award-Winning incubator that cultivates an incredible community of innovative creative leaders. The summer program runs from June to August at <strong>Newlab<\/strong> in Brooklyn Navy Yards, NY.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Open Style Lab:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched at MIT as a public service program in 2014, Open Style Lab (501c3) runs a 6-10 week intensive summer program that multidisciplinary teams such as engineers, designers, and occupational therapy students and professionals collaborate hands-on to cocreate innovative wearable solutions with and by people with disabilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Proven Impact:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous program outcomes have been featured at New York Fashion Week and showcased at esteemed institutions such as the <strong>Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in NYC, Museum f\u00fcr Gestaltung Z\u00fcrich in Zurich<\/strong> and the upcoming <strong>Victoria and Albert Museum<\/strong> in London June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Calling for:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Physical Designers<\/strong> (Packaging, Product, Industrial, Architecture, Fashion, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Graphic Designers<\/strong> (Skills in packaging and prototyping)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Industrial or Product Engineer<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occupational Therapists \/ Physical Therapists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disabled Expert Fellows (Individuals with lived experience of disability)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program duration:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>June &#8211; August, 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preprogram Meeting (End of May)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 Weeks of Programming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Final Exhibition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Commitment Expectation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-program meetup: Friday, May 30<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First 2 weeks (Fully Virtual) (Third and fourth week of June starting 6\/16)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Three weeknight virtual calls (2 hrs each)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Virtual Saturday calls (3 hrs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>6 weeks (Hybrid) July 7-August 16:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Saturdays: Full day programs 9:30-5pm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day of your teams choosing: Full lab days for 4 weeks from 7\/13-8\/3<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three weeknight virtual calls (2 hrs each)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final exhibition 8\/16 (TBD)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Independent project work throughout the week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stipend:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>$1500 per team for material costs.
