Work under the supervision of the Web & Electronic Media Manager and the Manager of Digital Media and Computer Services. This position supports the design lead and contributes directly to maintaining and improving the IFA\u2019s website and digital presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligibility:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This position is open only to NYU graduate students.<\/strong> Per the Local 2110 union contract, graduate student appointments must be made by semester. Fall 2025 appointments must fall between September 1 \u2013 December 19, 2025. Please allow 1\u20132 weeks between the job offer and the start date for processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Position Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Institute of Fine Arts\u2019 Digital Media & Computer Services (DMCS) department seeks a creative, detail-oriented graduate student to serve as Web Assistant for the 2025\u20132026 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll collaborate closely with the department\u2019s web manager to maintain the IFA website (ifa.nyu.edu) and design new digital features. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in web content production, visual media, and light coding. Work includes content updates, design enhancements, and data-driven features such as the IFA\u2019s interactive alumni map, built using D3.js.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most work will be conducted remotely using GitHub, but occasional on-site meetings at the IFA\u2019s Upper East Side location may be required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duties Include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Updating and maintaining content on the IFA website<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Assisting with web design and layout improvements<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Contributing to digital projects such as alumni features, event pages, and maps<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Supporting the creation of photography, video, or social media content (as needed)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Collaborating with the web manager on new digital initiatives<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Participating in basic UX and accessibility reviews<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Required Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Proficiency in HTML and CSS<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Familiarity with JavaScript (especially D3.js is a plus)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Experience using Git\/GitHub for version control<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Interest in UI\/UX or digital storytelling encouraged<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hours & Compensation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up to 20 hours per week (per union guidelines)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In compliance with NYC\u2019s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly wage for graduate student employees in this position is $30.00\/hour, based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 2110.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
