Through live dance, visual art, and community dialogue, the event raises awareness about the impact of domestic violence in the U.S.—where nearly 1 in 3 women experience physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime—while honoring survivors and connecting audiences to critical support services.

WADE brings nearly a decade of experience in socially engaged artmaking, grounded in a mission of gender equity and systemic change. This initiative includes three key components: a live performance developed through WADE’s Full ON

Subject residency; an interactive gallery exhibition that explores the company’s evolution alongside the legal history of domestic violence in the U.S.; and structured dialogues with community members, artists, and justice professionals.

Guided by research and survivor-led advocacy, unspoken//unbroken centers themes of resilience, remembrance, and action. The gallery will feature 140: A Memorial in Bloom, a tribute to victims of feminicide, inspired by UN data reporting that an average of 140 women are killed each day by intimate partners or family members. As part of the exhibition, we are exploring the use of data visualization to trace the legal history of domestic violence in the U.S.—a tool to move beyond statistics and confront the lived realities in our communities.

WADE is a women-led performing arts organization working at the intersection of art and social justice. We serve women-identifying and nonbinary artists, survivors of gender-based violence, and historically underrepresented communities. Our broader audience includes LGBTQIA+ individuals, pre-professional dancers, college-aged young adults, and community members who engage with performance as a means of healing, education, and social change.

WADE’s mission is to support and amplify the artistic expressions of historically marginalized voices. Audience development is centered on cultivating long-term, reciprocal relationships. Through our programs (residencies, performances, workshops, and festivals) we offer direct opportunities for participation and engagement. Our audiences are not just spectators but collaborators, participants, and co-creators in the work.

Through projects such as unspoken//unbroken, we aim to engage intergenerational New York City audiences, especially those impacted by domestic violence, via partnerships, residencies, and events that center healing, storytelling, and equity-focused art. We create spaces where lived experience informs artistic practice, and where movement, sound, and shared reflection support deeper community connection.

Data Visualization Intern (Fall 2025) For unspoken//unbroken – A Project by WADE In collaboration with NYU Tisch ITP About the Role: WADE is seeking a…

[7

post-23342","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-intern","entry
["GET
