Architecting, deploying, and maintaining high performance networks requires both care and precision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The internship will take place in-person at the Simons Foundation\u2019s offices in New York City from June 1, 2026 \u2013 August 14, 2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicable travel assistance to New York City and a supported temporary housing option while in New York City may be available.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.simonsfoundation.org\/summer-at-simons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summer at Simons page<\/a>&nbsp;to learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\/RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take on one of several potential projects related to network diagnostics, automation, routine testing, or benchmarking and tuning of either ethernet or InfiniBand fabrics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must be a student enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students enrolled in physics, mathematics, computer science, or related disciplines preferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Basic understanding of computer networking fundamentals (TCP\/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic knowledge of the Linux command line<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with programming in Python, Julia, or Rust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some experience in HPC and cluster computing topics such as MPI, Slurm is preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic knowledge of Git\/GitHub desired<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related Skills &amp; Other Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must enjoy working in a research-driven environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Desire to document code and process, deliberative decision-making.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong oral and written communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Resume or CV<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover letter indicating your interest in the position<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applications for summer 2026 must be submitted by February 6, 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>COMPENSATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This internship pays $20, $25 or $28 per hour, depending on degree level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Our Commitment to Expanding Pathways to Science &amp; Opportunities for All:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the greatest ideas and discoveries come from a diverse mix of minds, backgrounds, and experiences.
