{"id":23712,"date":"2026-05-26T10:29:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T14:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/?p=23712"},"modified":"2026-05-26T10:29:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T14:29:32","slug":"call-agog-open-call-climate-futures-immersive-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2026\/05\/26\/call-agog-open-call-climate-futures-immersive-media\/","title":{"rendered":"CALL: Agog Open Call &#8211; Climate Futures + Immersive Media"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Agog is committing up to $1 million in grants to support innovators, technologists, artists, organizers, researchers, organizations, studios, and creative teams using immersive media to engage people on climate, from awareness to action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications open May 12 and close June 12, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/agog.submittable.com\/submit\/c7c3186b-3e5f-47a6-9cc0-4f4b0fc570ed\/agog-open-call-2026-climate-futures-immersive-media\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apply now<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Open Call<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This open call supports immersive media projects that help people better understand and respond to climate challenges and imagine what a better world could be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome proposals that use immersive technologies\u2014including smart glasses, augmented reality, spatial sound, and mixed reality\u2014to create more engaging, experiential forms of climate storytelling and civic participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The open call will support projects across a range of stages and formats, from early ideas to more developed work. What matters most is a compelling story or experience, a clear sense of purpose, and a thoughtful approach to bringing the work to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The review committee includes Agog leadership and climate and XR experts, including&nbsp;<strong>Myriam Achard<\/strong>, chief of new media partnerships and PR at PHI;&nbsp;<strong>Jerome Foster II<\/strong>, environmentalist;&nbsp;<strong>Anthony Leiserowitz, Ph.D.<\/strong>, director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication; and&nbsp;<strong>Jacqueline Patterson<\/strong>, founder and executive director of The Chisholm Legacy Project.&nbsp;Grants may be awarded in denominations ranging from $25,000 to $200,000. In addition to funding, selected projects may receive mentorship, advisor support, and opportunities for partnership and distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We\u2019re Looking For<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some ways we envision these tools could be used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Climate storytelling and civic participation<\/strong>: Place-based, immersive experiences that help people viscerally understand climate change and inspire meaningful civic engagement, organizing, and collective action.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community power and resilience<\/strong>: Resources that put real-time information, coordination capacity, and decision-making power in the hands of frontline communities before, during, and after climate disasters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Access and equity<\/strong>: Projects that center communities most impacted by climate disasters and explore pathways for repair, sovereignty, landback, and community-led climate leadership.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Planetary connection<\/strong>: In the face of climate anxiety, tools and experiences that support and deepen meaningful connection to the natural world through immersive media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Future-building and world design<\/strong>: Projects that help us expand our collective imagination to envision a more livable, connected, and thriving future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your brilliant ideas<\/strong>: Bold, imaginative approaches that we haven\u2019t yet thought of that expand what climate participation can feel and look like for the public good.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If your project aligns with the spirit of using immersive media to rally people around climate realities and creating the future we want, we encourage you to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">All Experience Levels Welcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Both XR creators and mission-driven organizations are encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from organizations with strong climate-focused work that are newer to XR and interested in exploring how immersive media can expand their impact.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note: All applications must be submitted through a US-based registered entity (e.g., nonprofit, company, or fiscal sponsor).
