\nThe Finnish Academy of Fine Arts is an international fine arts
\nuniversity and the only one of its kind in Finland. It provides high-
\nquality education in moving image, painting, photography,
\nprintmaking, sculpture and site and situation specific arts. It is
\nalso a pioneer in artistic research. The Academy has been training
\nartists since 1848.<\/p>\n
POST
\nProfessor in site and situation specific arts (including different
\nforms of environmental, performance and installation art)<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
\n\u2022 Artistic merits and competence: the professor is required to have
\nexperience in teaching and in international co-operation as well as
\nextensive knowledge of the field of contemporary art.
\n\u2022 In principle, the post requires sufficient competence in Finnish
\nand English and the ability to understand Swedish. However, a foreign
\nnational or a non-native Finnish citizen may be appointed to the post
\nwithout demonstrating the required proficiency in Finnish or Swedish.<\/p>\n
PROFESSOR’S DUTIES
\n\u2022 The professor is responsible for the teaching and development of
\nsite and situation specific arts in the degree programme of time and
\nspace arts.
\n\u2022 The professor carries out and supervises scientific or artistic
\nwork, gives education based on it and follows developments in science
\nor art and participates in societal interaction and international
\ncooperation in his\/her field.
\n\u2022 The professor contributes to teaching in his\/her field, supervises
\nstudents’ studies, gives the examinations under his\/her
\nresponsibility, submits to the university the necessary reports on
\nhis\/her teaching, publishing activities, scientific and artistic work
\nand examinations given, performs the duties attendant upon membership
\nin the administrative bodies of the university and other tasks that
\nhave been assigned or given to him\/her and participates in the
\nselection of new students.
\n\u2022 The professor is expected to actively engage in the development of
\nthe degree programme and the university.<\/p>\n

\ndelivered in three copies:
\n\u2022 written statement of the artistic and teaching merits relevant to
\nthe post
\n\u2022 portfolio of artistic work
\n\u2022 curriculum vitae
\n\u2022 list of publications
\n\u2022 (proof of language proficiency)<\/p>\n
The application and the appendices should be in English, Finnish or
\nSwedish.<\/p>\n
