The Collaborative Cross-modal Interaction<br \/> project (CCmI) will explore how to design support for collaboration<br \/> where participants have differing access to modalities. Specifically,<br \/> the project will look at collaboration between visually impaired users<br \/> and sighted users in the context of editing diagrams in the software<br \/> engineering workplace. The deliverable for this project is an<br \/> open-source software tool that enables collaborative diagram editing<br \/> between visually impaired and sighted users.<\/p>\n<p>The project draws on, and extends existing award winning research and<br \/> development at Queen Mary, University of London. The results of this<br \/> project will broaden inclusion in the workplace and give the UK an<br \/> advantage in the area of assistive technology.<\/p>\n<p>This project is part of the Interactional Sound and Music Group at<br \/> Queen Mary which explores new ways of encountering sound from<br \/> interactive art to real time data sonification. The group is part of<br \/> the Centre for Digital Music (C4DM) and the Interaction, Media and<br \/> Communication research group (IMC). The C4DM is a world-leading<br \/> multidisciplinary research group in the field of Music &amp; Audio<br \/> Technology. Since its founding members joined Queen Mary in 2001, the<br \/> Centre has grown to become one of the world&#8217;s leading Digital Music<br \/> research groups. The IMC research group is an internationally<br \/> recognised interdisciplinary research group that works on human<br \/> interaction, multimodal interaction, creativity and engagement and<br \/> science outreach.<\/p>\n<p>Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL) is one of London and the UK&#8217;s<br \/> leading research-focused higher education institutions.
