Lancaster University has two openings in Adaptable Pervasive User
Interfaces (available immediately until – 31 January 2011 with a
possibility for a further 6-month extension)

Applications are invited for two short-term research positions in the
area of pervasive adaptable user interfaces as part of the EC-funded
ALLOW project (Adaptable Pervasive Flows – www.allow-project.eu). The
research work comprises the design, implementation and evaluation of
pervasive interactive systems for multi-device environments. The ALLOW
project investigates system support and user interfaces for
large-scale pervasive systems that are driven by high-level models of
human activity (flows). Topics of interest include mobile\/wearable
projected interfaces, ambient displays, and sensor-based interfaces.<\/p>\n
We invite applications from enthusiastic individuals who have an MSc,
PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field of
relevance to the research. We seek applicants with initial experience
in the design, development and evaluation of mobile\/pervasive systems
or user interfaces, excellent systems prototyping skills, the ability
to engage with external stakeholders and the ability and commitment to
work as part of a team.<\/p>\n
The School of Computing and Communications offers a highly collegiate
and stimulating environment for research career development. The
positions are associated with the Embedded Interactive Systems Group
(http:\/\/eis.comp.lancs.ac.uk\/). Candidates are expected to contribute
to the strong profile of the group through participation in the
development and publication of research results.<\/p>\n
The posts are available immediately until 31 January 2011 with a
possibility for a further 6-month extension. Although advertised as a
full-time position, we will also consider part-time and job share
