We\u2019re looking for a design professional with 3+ years of demonstrable experience leading information architecture development for web-based projects. Our Information Architects (IA) work closely with business sponsors, designers and other project leads to develop user-centered solutions of varying sizes\u2014from enterprise-wide applications to smaller maintenance or seasonal projects. We\u2019re looking for an IA with strong analytical skills who can translate business and user requirements into supportive experiences and effectively communicate solutions, both visually and verbally. All candidates should be prepared to show representative projects and documentation.  Responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2211 Participate in all phases of scoping, architecting, and design<br \/>\n\u2211 Define the user model and user interface for new Barnes &amp; Noble products and features<br \/>\n\u2211 Partner with business owners and the project team to define an experience that meets business and user goals<br \/>\n\u2211 Translate specific use cases and business rules into a recommended approach<br \/>\n\u2211 Develop high-level and\/or detailed user scenarios, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas<br \/>\n\u2211 Consult with technical leads to determine feasibility of the recommended approach<br \/>\n\u2211 Produce the detailed functional specifications required to implement design<br \/>\n\u2211 Gauge the usability of new and existing features, and make constructive and reasonable suggestions for change<br \/>\n\u2211 Work with designers and engineers to realize the blueprint<br \/>\n\u2211 Support the QA team through integration and end-to-end testing<br \/>\n\u2211 Monitor user feedback, site data and customer service inquiries to identify opportunities for growth and improvement<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<br \/>\n\u2211 3+ years of demonstrable experience leading information architecture projects, preferably with a retail or transactional focus<br \/>\n\u2211 Knowledge of\/experience with a range of user research and testing methodologies<br \/>\n\u2211 Complete understanding of constraints of designing for the web, including HTML, Web browser capabilities across multiple platforms, and new technologies<br \/>\n\u2211 Proficiency with Visio or Illustrator and the MS Office suite<br \/>\n\u2211 Clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of an IA and contingencies with other team members <\/p>\n<p>\u2211 Strong analysis and communication skills<br \/>\n\u2211 B.A.\/M.A. in a related field, such as interaction design, HCI, communications or library science<br \/>\n\u2211 Knowledge of the Rational toolset, Photoshop and HTML authoring and prior employment with client-side organizations and agencies a plus.<\/p>\n<p>Contact:<br \/>\nMark Israel<br \/>\nSenior Manager, Recruiting<br \/>\nmisrael@book.com<br \/>\n212-414-6368<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\nbe296b3d9de53741@lists.nyu.edu<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barnes &amp; Noble .com Information Architect Barnes &amp; Noble.com is seeking an Information Architect to join its Experience Design team.
