My New York City client is looking for a talented User-Interface Developer to help with the development effort for a new web based application. As a developer you will be responsible for working with a talented team in implementing a complex web-based UI with a lot of JavaScript on the front-end and Grails on the back-end. In addition to the web app, we also have an application across multiple mobile platforms. It is essential that the right candidate be able to rapidly create working user-interfaces in an agile development environment.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Primary Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
* Work with other Software Developers to develop highly functional, scalable, reliable web based applications.<\/p>\n
* Rapidly create user-interfaces using Ajax, JavaScript, HTML and CSS in a Grails environment (Java\/Groovy\/Rails).<\/p>\n
* Participate in requirement gathering and analysis activities from a software developer perspective.<\/p>\n
* Be skilled at progressing from problem statement and design documents to implementation details.<\/p>\n
* Translate high-level and low-level design documents into full fledged web based applications.<\/p>\n
* Identify, recommend, and embrace open-source software development.<\/p>\n
* Complete tasks and projects on time with minimal guidance.<\/p>\n

Required Job Related Skills and Experience<\/p>\n
* Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience.<\/p>\n
* Expert in user-interface development, preferably in a Java environment, and using the following technologies: HTML\/DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery or similar JavaScript library (but should be comfortable without the support of a JS library), cross-browser compatibility.<\/p>\n
* Excellent teamwork skills as well as verbal and written communication skills.<\/p>\n
* Proficient in software tools such as Eclipse\/IntelliJ is needed to complete development projects successfully.<\/p>\n
* Strong conceptualization skills and ability to provide workflow solutions to complex problems.<\/p>\n
* Ability to work independently with minimal direction.<\/p>\n
* Strong categorization\/data organization skills.<\/p>\n
* Knowledge of basic data and workflow modeling methodologies.<\/p>\n
* Must have experience and be able to work well in fast-paced, dynamic agile environments.<\/p>\n

Desired Job Related Skills and Experience<\/p>\n
* Experience with Grails or some related MVC framework.<\/p>\n
* iCal and CalDav interfaces.<\/p>\n
* Well versed in software change control and versioning.<\/p>\n
* Rich experience in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, UML methodology and Design Patterns.<\/p>\n
