CCIT, Columbia University<\/p>\n<p>As Systems Application Programmer, you&#8217;ll be\u00a0responsible for developing, testing, and documenting both new and existing applications, as well as administering and upgrading the application environment and infrastructure. \u00a0You&#8217;ll contribute to the development and delivery of high value and heavily used Web applications.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re looking for someone who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Has a passion for developing exceptional software solutions particularly in the field of higher education<\/li>\n<li>Maintains a deep understanding of software design principles<\/li>\n<li>Possesses excellent problem-solving abilities and technical chops<\/li>\n<li>Works even better under pressure<\/li>\n<li>May have contributed to an open source project and\/or has an active Google code\/Github account (we\u2019d love to see this in your application!)<\/li>\n<li>Has excellent written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Has the ability to influence group dynamics and work as a team player<\/li>\n<li>Has an excellent sense of humor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In-depth experience developing complex Web applications<\/li>\n<li>Solid knowledge of object oriented PHP<\/li>\n<li>Strong background in relational databases and complex SQL queries<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of MVC frameworks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Systems Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Background in Linux system administration<\/li>\n<li>Skills writing automated Shell\/Python scripts<\/li>\n<li>Drupal maintenance knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Apache administration expertise<\/li>\n<li>Version control software administration experience (Subversion preferred)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MySQL, Sybase, Oracle and SQL server knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of unit testing tools and frameworks<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Web site performance and optimization<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of mobile development<\/li>\n<li>Additional desirable experience and knowledge: HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript frameworks, Java, Microsoft Dynamics CRM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits of working at Columbia<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with a dedicated and passionate group that loves delivering exceptional software.<\/li>\n<li>Flexible work options<\/li>\n<li>Tuition benefits for you and your family<\/li>\n<li>Medical, dental, and life insurance coverage options<\/li>\n<li>Retirement plan &#8211;
