\n>> StoryCorps’ mission is to instruct and inspire people to record
\n>> one another’s stories in sound. Facilitators are the public face
\n>> of StoryCorps, and work to carry out this mission.

\n>> StoryBooths are permanent or semi-permanent structures StoryCorps
\n>> builds as public recording spaces integrated into the communities
\n>> in which they are sited. These booths are designed to create a
\n>> safe and welcoming space for participants to record interviews.
\n>> StoryCorps Facilitators orient these participants to the interview
\n>> process and handle all technical and administrative aspects of
\n>> these recordings. They also log each interview, prompt
\n>> participants when necessary, and occasionally take on the role of
\n>> the interviewer if a participant arrives alone. Facilitators are
\n>> responsible for data entry, archiving, reporting, and other tasks
\n>> necessary to the preservation of interviews and upkeep of the
\n>> recording space and equipment. When not conducting interviews,
\n>> facilitators perform a variety of tasks to support their
\n>> department and StoryCorps as a whole, such as recruiting
\n>> participants from the community and organizing community listening
\n>> events.

\n>> The San Francisco StoryBooth is sponsored by and located in the
\n>> Contemporary Jewish Museum. Since its founding in 1984, the
\n>> Contemporary Jewish Museum has presented over 100 exhibitions and
\n>> programs on Jewish culture, art, history, and ideas to audiences
\n>> of all ages and backgrounds. For more than twenty years, the CJM
\n>> has provided a forum for people to gather and share multiple
\n>> perspectives, fostering cross-cultural understanding through
\n>> dialogue and engagement with art. The CJM is a private, not-for-
\n>> profit institution supported by members, foundation support, and
\n>> admission revenues. On June 8, 2008, the CJM opened its new,
\n>> landmark location at 736 Mission St, San Francisco, CA.
\n>>
\n>> StoryCorps facilitators will receive training and work in San
\n>> Francisco. The StoryBooth at the Contemporary Jewish Museum is
\n>> open for interviews two days per week; anticipated hours for this
\n>> position are 20 hours per week. This is a temporary position, with
\n>> an assignment length of one year.
\n>>
\n>> Essential Duties and Responsibilites:
\n>>
\n>> Welcome participants; guide them through the interview experience
\n>> Conduct interviews with solo participants
\n>> Handle all technical aspects of making the recordings
\n>> Provide the participants with a CD copy of their interview
\n>> Perform data entry and archival processing tasks to ensure
\n>> preservation of interviews and an accurate record the day’s activity
\n>> Identify tape from interviews to be considered for broadcast
\n>> Solicit donations from participants; accurately process and record
\n>> transactions
\n>> Regularly communicate with supervisors to ensure the effective
\n>> operations of all tiers of service
\n>> Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
\n>>
\n>> Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills
\n>> Solid organization skills and attention to detail
\n>> Fluency in a language other than English a plus
\n>> Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and File Maker Pro;
\n>> Mac proficiency preferred
\n>> High school diploma or equivalency required; 2 or 4 year college
\n>> degree preferred
\n>> Experience in oral history or documentary work a plus
\n>> Familiarity with the Bay Area strongly preferred
\n>
