Facilitators are the public face<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; of StoryCorps, and work to carry out this mission.<br \/>\n&gt;&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; StoryBooths are permanent or semi-permanent structures StoryCorps<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; builds as public recording spaces integrated into the communities<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; in which they are sited. These booths are designed to create a<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; safe and welcoming space for participants to record interviews.<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; StoryCorps Facilitators orient these participants to the interview<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; process and handle all technical and administrative aspects of<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; these recordings. They also log each interview, prompt<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; participants when necessary, and occasionally take on the role of<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; the interviewer if a participant arrives alone. Facilitators are<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; responsible for data entry, archiving, reporting, and other tasks<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; necessary to the preservation of interviews and upkeep of the<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; recording space and equipment. When not conducting interviews,<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; facilitators perform a variety of tasks to support their<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; department and StoryCorps as a whole, such as recruiting<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; participants from the community and organizing community listening<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; events.<br \/>\n&gt;&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; The San Francisco StoryBooth is sponsored by and located in the<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Contemporary Jewish Museum. Since its founding in 1984, the<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Contemporary Jewish Museum has presented over 100 exhibitions and<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; programs on Jewish culture, art, history, and ideas to audiences<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; of all ages and backgrounds. For more than twenty years, the CJM<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; has provided a forum for people to gather and share multiple<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; perspectives, fostering cross-cultural understanding through<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; dialogue and engagement with art. The CJM is a private, not-for-<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; profit institution supported by members, foundation support, and<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; admission revenues. On June 8, 2008, the CJM opened its new,<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; landmark location at 736 Mission St, San Francisco, CA.<br \/>\n&gt;&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; StoryCorps facilitators will receive training and work in San<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Francisco. The StoryBooth at the Contemporary Jewish Museum is<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; open for interviews two days per week; anticipated hours for this<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; position are 20 hours per week. This is a temporary position, with<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; an assignment length of one year.<br \/>\n&gt;&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Essential Duties and Responsibilites:<br \/>\n&gt;&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Welcome participants; guide them through the interview experience<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Conduct interviews with solo participants<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Handle all technical aspects of making the recordings<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Provide the participants with a CD copy of their interview<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Perform data entry and archival processing tasks to ensure<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; preservation of interviews and an accurate record the day&#8217;s activity<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Identify tape from interviews to be considered for broadcast<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Solicit donations from participants; accurately process and record<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; transactions<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Regularly communicate with supervisors to ensure the effective<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; operations of all tiers of service<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:<br \/>\n&gt;&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Solid organization skills and attention to detail<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Fluency in a language other than English a plus<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and File Maker Pro;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Mac proficiency preferred<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; High school diploma or equivalency required; 2 or 4 year college<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; degree preferred<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Experience in oral history or documentary work a plus<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Familiarity with the Bay Area strongly preferred<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; Please instruct interested applicants to visit our website for the<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; full application instructions: http:\/\/www.storycorps.net\/about\/<br \/>\n&gt;&gt; employment-opportunities.
