Papyri.info is a web-based research portal that provides\u00a0scholars worldwide with the ability to search, browse and\u00a0collaboratively edit texts, transcriptions, images and metadata relating\u00a0to ancient texts on papyri, pottery fragments and other material. The\u00a0incumbent will work closely with the Project Coordinator and with\u00a0scholars involved in the project at NYU=92s Institute for the Study of the\u00a0Ancient World, Duke University, the University of Kentucky and the\u00a0University of Heidelberg, as well as with NYU Digital Library Technology\u00a0staff.<\/p>\n<p>The incumbent=92s initial responsibilities will include: close\u00a0collaboration with project team members to enhance and extend a robust\u00a0production environment at NYU for the ongoing ingest and processing of\u00a0new and updated text transcriptions, metadata and digital images;\u00a0performing both analysis and programming of any required changes or\u00a0enhancements to current PN applications.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates should have the following skills:<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in computer or information science and 3 years of\u00a0relevant experience or equivalent combination<br \/>\nMust include experience developing web applications using Java<br \/>\nDemonstrated knowledge of Java, Javascript, Tomcat, Saxon, Lucene,\u00a0Apache, SQL, XML, XSLT<br \/>\nExperience with metadata standards (e.g. TEI, EpiDoc)<br \/>\nExperience working in Unix\/Linux environments<br \/>\nPreferred: Experience with Apache Solr, RDF triple stores (e.g.\u00a0Mulgara), Clojure<br \/>\nPreferred: Experience designing, building, and deploying distributed\u00a0systems<br \/>\nPreferred: Experience working with non-Roman Unicode-based textual\u00a0data (esp.
