The University of Florida (UF) Digital Worlds Institute, in collaboration\u00a0with the UF Colleges of Fine Arts, Engineering and Journalism &\u00a0Communications, seeks a new visionary faculty member with expertise in 3D\u00a0modeling\/animation, interactive media and interaction design. Candidates\u00a0from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds related to the emerging fields\u00a0of 3D Interactive Media \/ Digital Arts & Sciences are urged to apply. An\u00a0ideal candidate would have demonstrated expertise in at least two (or more)
\nof the following areas: 2D and 3D computer modeling and animation; design\u00a0and implementation of interactive digital media; scientific and\/or medical\u00a0visualization; digital visual effects; industry-standard modeling and\u00a0animation software; open-source software and visualization tools; motion\u00a0capture and related technologies; digital media arts and sciences and\u00a0related technologies, with identified interests in new and emerging media\u00a0research and production to support said research. An ideal starting date for\u00a0this position would be May 1, 2010, but certainly no later than August 1,\u00a02010.<\/p>\n
Rank and Salary: Assistant or Associate in Digital Arts And Sciences (DAS)\u00a0twelve-month salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.<\/p>\n
Qualifications: A minimum of five years of professional experience in a\u00a0professional production environment encompassing areas related to\u00a0Interactive Media \/ Digital Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate will\u00a0have a distinguished record of professional project development appropriate\u00a0to be appointed at the assistant or associate level. Graduate Degree (or\u00a0Bachelor’s degree with significant industry experience) preferred.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will provide leadership in\u00a0growing our interdisciplinary academic, research and production programs in\u00a0areas related to visualization and interaction design. He\/she will become an\u00a0integral member of an innovative team of transdisciplinary DAS faculty at\u00a0the UF Digital Worlds Institute. The DAS faculty form the core of a dynamic\u00a0academic and research consortium between UF’s Colleges of Fine Arts,\u00a0Engineering and Journalism & Communications, centered at the Institute. \u00a0DAS\u00a0faculty members teach courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate student\u00a0work and engage in and support interdisciplinary research.<\/p>\n
