MoveOn.org\u00a0Civic Action is looking for an editorial web\u00a0designer with a passion for progressive politics, an amazing sense for all things visual, and a clever, creative, enterprising attitude. This is an independent contractor position.<\/p>\n
About the Project:<\/strong> Right-wing spin is drowning out the truth. Fox News looms over our political culture. Fewer Americans\u00a0believe that climate change is real every day. Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh\u00a0and Sarah Palin drive our national narratives.<\/p>\n We have a plan to make sure that the truth gets out online, but we need smart people to help us make it happen. The effort is led\u00a0by former senior staff at MoveOn and The Onion; by coming in on the ground\u00a0floor, you can also help shape it from the beginning.<\/p>\n About You:<\/strong> You shine when\u00a0touching-up an photo, prettying-up a chart, or simplifying-up a user interface. You can happily spend 8 hours designing a complex infographic or 8 minutes searching for a funny image online to accompany a blog post. You’re as\u00a0comfortable tweaking\u00a0CSS\u00a0as you are juggling layers in Photoshop.<\/p>\n We’re looking for a design generalist, so\u00a0qualified candidates will have most of these skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n User interface design<\/p>\n Editorial design<\/p>\n Quick Photoshop work<\/p>\n Good eye for powerful images, good ability to find them quickly online<\/p>\n Strong\u00a0CSS\/HTMLInfographics a plus<\/p>\n Higher-level tech skills (e.g. Perl,\u00a0AJAX) a plusStrong writing skills a plus<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Traits:<\/strong><\/p>\n You like team-work, but can manage yourself day-to-day<\/p>\n You\u2019ve got a knack for planning and managing complex projects<\/p>\n You\u2019re low-ego and high-output (like the rest of our team)<\/p>\n You\u2019re happy to change directions quickly and frequently.<\/p>\n \u201cBuild it, test it, iterate quickly\u201d mentality a big plus<\/p>\n You like working hard with a hard-working team<\/p>\n You\u2019ve got a sense of humor, even (especially!) when the going gets tough<\/p>\n You can make \u201cquick & dirty\u201d look shiny & nice<\/p>\n Location:<\/strong> Anywhere.
