{"id":5395,"date":"2011-02-23T15:25:25","date_gmt":"2011-02-23T19:25:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/?p=5395"},"modified":"2011-02-23T15:25:25","modified_gmt":"2011-02-23T19:25:25","slug":"job-ux-leaddirector-through-a-recruiter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2011\/02\/23\/job-ux-leaddirector-through-a-recruiter\/","title":{"rendered":"JOB: UX Lead\/Director, through a recruiter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UX LEAD \/ DIRECTOR (\u201cFulltime UX Hire #1\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Fulltime<\/p>\n<p>NYC<\/p>\n<p>For irreverent, ground-breaking agency<\/p>\n<p>This role is a *real* doozy and a fantastic opportunity for a UXer who<\/p>\n<p>wants to get in on the ground floor at an award-winning agency,<\/p>\n<p>evangelize and build the UX practice, and do great hands-on work from<\/p>\n<p>a conceptual\/creative and tactical POV.<\/p>\n<p>This award-winning, integrated, marketing\/campaign-oriented firm with<\/p>\n<p>a slew of awards and a killer reputation (and some nice nonprofit\/<\/p>\n<p>green clients too) is looking for their first fulltime UX hire.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ve worked with UX freelancers before, and as their digital<\/p>\n<p>offerings and reputation continues to grow, they are formally building<\/p>\n<p>out their UX department, and are looking for that one woman or man to<\/p>\n<p>be its Founder and run with it!<\/p>\n<p>Skills\/Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>* Marketing agency experience required<\/p>\n<p>* 7-9+ years experience; looking for current Lead or Director level<\/p>\n<p>types<\/p>\n<p>* Looking for someone with proven campaign\/marketing experience and a<\/p>\n<p>creative, conceptual mind. If you&#8217;ve got heavy-duty, transactional UX<\/p>\n<p>chops in addition to marketing, that&#8217;s OK, but if that&#8217;s all you&#8217;ve<\/p>\n<p>got, it&#8217;s probably not the best fit.<\/p>\n<p>* Must be OK with being 100% tactical, at least at first. Over time,<\/p>\n<p>you&#8217;ll be tasked with growing the department and leading it, so prior<\/p>\n<p>management experience is required. Entrepreneurial \/ department-<\/p>\n<p>building experience is a huge plus!<\/p>\n<p>* Evangelize. You must have the ability + desire to communicate with<\/p>\n<p>traditional (print, broadcast) teams effectively and collaboratively.<\/p>\n<p>The company is open + welcoming to adding UX as a proper discipline,<\/p>\n<p>and they&#8217;ve worked with UX freelancers regularly, so you&#8217;re not<\/p>\n<p>talking to a hostile audience, but you&#8217;ve got to be able to evangelize<\/p>\n<p>UX as a practice, be able to bring best UX process + practice to the<\/p>\n<p>table, and guide the way. It&#8217;s a proactive, &#8220;Here&#8217;s the best way to do<\/p>\n<p>this and here&#8217;s what I recommend we do now&#8221; type of role, not a &#8220;What<\/p>\n<p>do you want me to do?&#8221; role.<\/p>\n<p>* Mac shop (CS3, Omnigraffle)<\/p>\n<p>* Very client facing.
