Role Summary:<\/span><\/p>\n

The Asset Management Technology Systems Engineer will participate in the design, implementation, configuration, engineering, support, and maintenance of NBC News\u2019s media asset management platform in a deadline-driven, 24×7 on-air broadcast news environment. \u2028\u2028Essential Responsibilities:<\/span><\/p>\n

Core team member on asset management technology team focused on software and systems integration as part of NBC Universal\u2019s Media Production Partners group.<\/p>\n

Design and engineer technology solutions to meet business goals.<\/p>\n

Act as subject matter expert on key ingest systems, protocols, and integrations.<\/p>\n

Implement expansions to existing platforms and integrations.<\/p>\n

Recommend approaches to improving system stability and reliability.<\/p>\n

Recommend and perform functional and regression tests for new features, changes, and upgrades.<\/p>\n

Develop light software tools and write database queries for proofs of concept, test automation, system maintenance, and data remediation.<\/p>\n

Support media asset management platform, integrations, and tools in a 24×7 news environment, including:<\/p>\n

Web-based media management and search frontend<\/p>\n

Multi-tiered enterprise MAM applications<\/p>\n

Proxy video production tools<\/p>\n

Proxy video logging tools<\/p>\n

Feed ingest scheduling platforms<\/p>\n

Tape ingest toolset, including frontend client and automation backend<\/p>\n

Integration with signal routing infrastructure, video servers, and tape decks<\/p>\n

Integration with Avid edit platform, including exchange of sequences, media, and metadata<\/p>\n

Integration with distribution platforms including broadcast playout servers and web\/mobile delivery systems<\/p>\n

Metadata management in a configuration driven data model<\/p>\n

Server and OS configuration and maintenance<\/p>\n

Coordinate with internal operational & technology and vendor support teams to troubleshoot issues and drive resolution<\/p>\n

Must be willing to work occasional late nights and weekends on short notice.<\/p>\n

Qualifications\/Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

Basic Qualifications:<\/span><\/p>\n

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience<\/p>\n

Minimum of 5 years software development and configuration experience (Perl and Python are a plus)<\/p>\n

Minimum 5 years system administration experience on both GNU\/Linux and Windows platforms<\/p>\n

Minimum 5 years working with IT systems, leveraging expertise on network protocols and standards (e.g. DNS, TCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH)<\/p>\n

Minimum 1 year working with relational databases and SQL\u2028\u2028Eligibility Requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n

Familiarity with broadcast production systems including signal routing, video ingest and playout technology, Avid systems (edit, production media management, storage), and broadcast tape decks<\/p>\n

Familiarity with media production and media asset management workflows<\/p>\n

Experience with the Viz Ardome MAM platform<\/p>\n

Experience with Grass Valley K2 Summit video servers<\/p>\n

Experience working with Oracle databases<\/p>\n

Experience defining, documenting, and executing test cases<\/p>\n

Experience maintaining uptime on mission-critical systems<\/p>\n

Experience developing software against documented APIs<\/p>\n
