\nGOOD is looking for a data-obsessed editor to join the editorial department and lead our ongoing development of insightful, interactive data visualizations, maps and diagrams. The Data Editor will\u00a0formulate and execute a broad strategy for sharing GOOD-curated data and analysis, and serve as our envoy to the larger community of programmers, designers, researchers, and hackers who love data. Rather than edit-at-a-distance, the Data Editor willpossess a keen understanding of how to find and convey\u00a0engaging stories and insights from data sets. Comfort working with databases, visual design, and statistics is critical.\u00a0 Fluency in tools\u00a0like Python, Java, Processing and R is a plus, and the ability to spot the\u00a0next big language or data technology is a necessity.
\nSince launching in\u00a02006, GOOD has been a leading platform for original, creative, and experimental information visualization. Today, we’re looking for a Data Editor with a\u00a0particular focus on news and interactivity to push our efforts in this field to the next level.
\nThe ideal candidate will have experience finding innovative ways to marry information design with data and interactivity to produce exciting visual explanations of complex topics, a relentless drive to uncover new information and data, and the ability to identify the compelling stories within in it.
\nCandidates must be able to work quickly and fluidly\u00a0through all phases of the process: from research, to analysis, to concept, to design, to copy writing, and final execution of features like interactive\u00a0maps and charts and the pages that display
\nthem.
\nCandidates should have a desire to collaborate extensively since\u00a0the job requires close coordination with other editors, designers, and programmers – both in house and out.
