Findings, a social reading and highlights-sharing startup, is seeking experienced Software Engineers. Findings is a Betaworks (http:\/\/betaworks.com<\/a>) company. Betaworks is an open, diverse, vibrant community of companies that share a single culture, yet somehow manage to maintain their own distinct personalities. Interface Engineer<\/h2>\n

Findings is looking for an experienced Javascript\/HTML\/CSS engineer. We want a self-sufficient, proactive developer who has a passion for shipping elegant, responsive web interfaces. You’ll be working from the application layer forward (server-side), working closely with both our UI\/UX team, and our application engineers.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • In charge of overall Javascript application architecture<\/li>\n
  • Write client-side code in Javascript, HTML, and CSS for modern browsers<\/li>\n
  • Implement new features and optimize existing<\/li>\n
  • Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems<\/li>\n
  • Assist in the design of new functionality<\/li>\n
  • Delight users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Requirements<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Experience building consumer web application interfaces<\/li>\n
    • Strong Javascript (+JQuery)\/HTML\/CSS\/Ajax coding skills<\/li>\n
    • Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance<\/li>\n
    • Strong command of web standards, CSS-based design, cross-browser compatibility<\/li>\n
    • Good understanding of web technologies (HTTP, Apache) and familiarity with Unix\/Linux<\/li>\n
    • Great written communication and documentation abilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      Python Engineer<\/h2>\n

      Findings is looking for an engineer to focus on our infrastructure and backend application development. We want a self-sufficient, proactive developer who has a passion for reading, with a focus on creating lean and efficient Python code.<\/p>\n

      Responsibilities<\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Design and develop core, backend software components<\/li>\n
      • Design and develop core data structures, and interfaces to them<\/li>\n
      • Application development using primarily Python on the Tornado web framework<\/li>\n
      • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources<\/li>\n
      • Assist in engineering process (continuous builds, testing, release to production)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Requirements<\/h3>\n
          \n
        • Expert knowledge of Python and SQL<\/li>\n
        • Knowledge of Sphinx Search and SQLAlchemy a plus<\/li>\n
        • Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance<\/li>\n
        • Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, server architectures, source code version controls systems preferred<\/li>\n
        • Experience in publishing or digital written content a plus<\/li>\n
