Standard Chartered Studios, the mobile innovation arm of Standard
\nChartered Bank, is seeking a talented and creative
\napp-designer-in-residence for immediate hire at its SoMa location.<\/p>\n
The role of the app-designer-in-residence will be to conceptualize and
\nmock up radically innovative ideas for new mobile applications within
\nthe bank.\u00a0 On a weekly basis, the designer will develop a new
\napplication concept for the iPad or iPhone platform, showcasing an
\ninterface technology of interest or a novel application domain. During
\nthe week, the designer will reduce the concept to a series of mockup
\nscreenshots or slideware suitable for sending to a software
\ndevelopment team to convert into interactive applications. No
\nprogramming skills are expected or required; however, good visual
\ndesign and mockup skills are necessary in either Powerpoint,
\nIllustrator, Photoshop, or their equivalents.<\/p>\n
The designer in residence will enjoy strong creative control and
\nautonomy and have access to an overseas development team. The designer
\nmust be able to operate with limited supervision and independently
\nfrom existing projects within the studios.<\/p>\n
The right candidate will have an enthusiasm for innovative design and
\nideas and share an excitement for the potential of iPhone and iPad
\ndevelopment. Experience in banking, the financial sector, and
\ncorporate environments are unimportant – SC studios is especially
\ninterested in fresh ideas from outsiders.<\/p>\n
Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience.\u00a0 The designer in
\nresidence role is a contracted position and cyclical, so the role is
\nexpected to suit part-time candidates at 40-60 percent time for 2-8
\nmonths, but for the right candidate this role can be expanded to a 100
\npercent time after a brief evaluation period.<\/p>\n
