The Art & Technology B.A. Program (ARTC) at Stevens Institute of
\nTechnology is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position in New
\nMedia or Hybrid Arts at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor,
\nto begin in August 2009. The successful candidate for this position
\nshould be a dynamic and innovative artist\/scholar engaged in advanced
\ndigital or spatial experimental arts as well as research and
\nscholarship with a national reputation. A terminal degree is required.
\nOur candidate will have significant input into the philosophy and
\ndevelopment of the ARTC program, and could potentially serve as co-
\ndirector. Fields we are interested in include: bio-art, computational
\nart, interactive installation, spatial media, Internet-based art,
\nvideo art, robotic and kinetic sculpture, among others.<\/p>\n
Newly established in 2004, ARTC is a small but growing program in the
\nNew York City area that spans across multiple disciplines and includes
\nstudents from the technical, scientific, entertainment, design and
\nfine arts communities. Our goal is to create a hybrid research
\nenvironment with opportunities for artists to collaborate with
\nscientists and technologists at Stevens, one of the premier centers
\nfor the study and innovation of science, technology, and
\nentrepreneurship. Candidates must be comfortable working in an
\natmosphere uniquely devoted to these areas.<\/p>\n
