The goal of<br \/>\n>> ESPACER is the development, dissemination and evaluation of<br \/>\n>> collaborative technologies that promote human interfacing and<br \/>\n>> community awareness in the everyday lived spaces where we work,<br \/>\n>> play and learn. We employ hybrid research practices that integrate<br \/>\n>> methods from creative, critical and technical disciplines.<br \/>\n>> Technologies and methods explored in the Advanced Research<br \/>\n>> Technology Collaboration and Visualization Lab include large-scale<br \/>\n>> participatory wireless networks, tangible and organic interfaces<br \/>\n>> and virtual and augmented environments. Our research platforms<br \/>\n>> include personal area network technologies, physical computing,<br \/>\n>> mega-pixel and stereographic displays, multi-touch surfaces and<br \/>\n>> mobile devices.<br \/>\n>><br \/>\n>><br \/>\n>> RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\n>> Work study programs at the Banff Centre are intended to provide<br \/>\n>> the participant with a combination of learning opportunities and<br \/>\n>> supervised practical work, related to the participant’s learning<br \/>\n>> objectives. Learning opportunities may be formal sessions and\/or<br \/>\n>> workshops or they may be informal opportunities arising out of the<br \/>\n>> situation of the moment. The work portion of the experience will<br \/>\n>> primarily focus on activities, which complement the participant’s<br \/>\n>> learning objectives as the work relates to the real and ongoing<br \/>\n>> activities in the Advanced Research Technology Collaboration and<br \/>\n>> Visualization Lab including work associated with event production<br \/>\n>> activities, technical support to staff and visiting researchers,<br \/>\n>> project management, administration, and marketing.<br \/>\n>><br \/>\n>><br \/>\n>> QUALIFICATIONS<br \/>\n>> It is recognized that work study participants bring prior training<br \/>\n>> and expertise to their work study term. The work experience in the<br \/>\n>> Advanced Technology Research Lab will provide the opportunity for<br \/>\n>> work study participants to extend their current skills in digital<br \/>\n>> media production and human centered computing in a collaborative<br \/>\n>> research environment. Top candidates will demonstrate the ability<br \/>\n>> and willingness to learn new technologies and creative methods as<br \/>\n>> required for creative research inquiry in their applications.<br \/>\n>> Candidates must have strong oral and written communication skills,<br \/>\n>> excellent organizational abilities, excellent time management<br \/>\n>> skills including the ability to multi-task multiple projects.<br \/>\n>><br \/>\n>> Education<br \/>\n>> Top candidates for the Work Study program have completed their<br \/>\n>> undergraduate or graduate degree.
