\nTitle: Research Scientist<\/p>\n
Experience and Insights Research (XIL) within the Interaction and Experience
\nResearch Lab, is a team of social scientists in Intel Labs. XIL uses social science
\nmethodologies to understand the currents of global socio-technological change in order to
\nbring business, market, and product value to Intel. We are seeking an ethnographer with
\ndeep interest and experience in understanding people and everyday lives around the globe.
\nThis is an entry level position and we are looking for candidates who recently completed their
\nacademic degrees.<\/p>\n
Individuals with strong research profiles have graduate level training in a social science
\ndiscipline such as sociology, economics, psychology, or anthropology.<\/p>\n

\n\u2026have a track record of creative, innovative research thinking, and have or are about to
\ncomplete their PhD, or advanced graduate work.
\n\u2022
\n\u2026are inspired to develop research or \u201cdesign\u201d programs that seek to understand people,
\npractices and institutions and seek to use this understanding as a basis from which to map
\nout new, disruptive opportunities for technological innovation.

\n\u2026believe in the value of interdisciplinary work and collaboration as means for conducting
\ninnovative research.
\n\u2022
\n…have exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, specifically the
\nability to communicate key messages to a broad technical audience, and to work with
\nbusiness stakeholders to translate ethnographic insights into business value.
\n\u2022
\n\u2026are enthusiastic about working in industry and are passionate about working at Intel<\/p>\n
Candidates should have some affinity for theory and theoretical frameworks as is relevant for
\ntheir area of expertise. A candidate\u2019s expertise might include: Islam and Islamic societies,
\nChina, media and image culture, on-line communities and the internet, \u201cemerging regions\u201d,
\nsynthetic worlds, gaming and artificial intelligence, sustainability, biotechnology, economics.
\nExperience with ethnographic research methods and techniques is desirable.<\/p>\n
Full-time offers will require relocation to Santa Clara, California or Portland, Oregon.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities include:
\n-Planning (global) research programs
\n-Executing (global) research programs
\n-Experimenting with new tools, techniques, methods
\n-Discussing, sharing, presenting work in progress
\n-Collaborating with PaPR peers, research colleagues, Intel stakeholders
\n-Developing materials that represent key facets of analysis, arguments, stories
\n-Working in Powerpoint (among other media)
\n-Relationship building with Intel stakeholders
\n-Showcasing work in conferences, publications, seminars<\/p>\n
