Description: Asia Society, a prestigious non-profit institution that is the leading force
\nin forging closer ties between Asia and the West through arts, education, policy and
\nbusiness outreach, is looking for a Technical Intern to assist in web development of its
\nDrupal-managed CMS. The ideal candidate should have a passion for maximizing
\navailable resources within a non-profit organization to develop engaging user
\nexperiences online.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
The Online Technical Intern should be passionate about latest practices in web
\ndevelopment, with a knack for discovering and implementing existing libraries and
\nsoftware to enhance Asia Society\u2019s unique and diverse online needs. Candidates should
\nbe prepared to configure our Drupal-managed CMS, including installing and testing
\nmodules, configuring Views, managing user permissions and template editing. The
\nTechnical Intern will also be called for front-end web development and should follow
\nbest practices in web development. There may be some data entry and QA involved.<\/p>\n
We are looking for someone who can not only execute basic web development tasks but
\nalso provide input to enhance the organization\u2019s online strategy. Therefore, the candidate
\nshould be aware of all things web, and interested in seeking out technical solutions to
\nAsia Society\u2019s many online needs.<\/p>\n
Requirements:
\nCandidates should have, at a minimum, a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and
\nJavaScript (jQuery). The Technical Intern must have experience working with Drupal
\n(experience with Views required and Panels a plus) as well as be comfortable with
\nversion control using SVN. Working knowledge of PHP a plus. Candidates must
\nadhere to best practices in web development.<\/p>\n
Schedule:
\nThe Online Technical Intern is expected to work at least 20 hours per week, for a
\nminimum of nine to 12 weeks, at Asia Society headquarters on Park Avenue. Specific
\nschedules can be designed to meet the individual needs of the intern. Please indicate the
\ndays and hours you are available to work in your application. The Online Reporting
\nIntern is unpaid. School credit is available.<\/p>\n
