{"id":98,"date":"2008-04-07T18:16:14","date_gmt":"2008-04-07T14:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2008\/04\/07\/job-very-part-time-job-doing-html-updatingediting\/"},"modified":"2008-04-07T18:16:14","modified_gmt":"2008-04-07T14:16:14","slug":"job-very-part-time-job-doing-html-updatingediting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2008\/04\/07\/job-very-part-time-job-doing-html-updatingediting\/","title":{"rendered":"JOB: very part-time job doing HTML updating\/editing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; WANTED:<br \/>\n&gt; Compassionate web genius  for international human rights not-for-<br \/>\n&gt; profit and small  but potent political publisher<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; We would like to have a biweekly web manage (  possibly a student<br \/>\n&gt; who could be available part time and on-call for last minute<br \/>\n&gt; emergencies) for  a half-day or day every other week to address the<br \/>\n&gt; web issues on our two sites,( www.speaktruth.org and<br \/>\n&gt; www.umbragebooks.com) decribed belwo:<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Skills needed include:<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; 1. edit HMTL in Dreamweaver or by hand<br \/>\n&gt; 2. understanding of photoshop &#8211; simply size, convert, and make web<br \/>\n&gt; ready images for website<br \/>\n&gt; 3. knows how to FTP<br \/>\n&gt; 4. extra skills like editing ASP and editing MS Access database are<br \/>\n&gt; a plus.<br \/>\n&gt; 5. is inexpensive for poor non-profits &#8211; &#8230;<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; ABOUT<br \/>\n&gt; Umbrage Editions is a small, independent multimedia company that<br \/>\n&gt; publishes high quality visual books on art, photography, nature,<br \/>\n&gt; and popular culture, curates intrenational traveling exhibitions,<br \/>\n&gt; and produces web sites, exhibitions, plays, TV documentaries, and<br \/>\n&gt; other cultural events. We are looking for someone who can help<br \/>\n&gt; with our  relatively simple web needs.<br \/>\n&gt; On  the Umbrage site the changes are relatively minim al:  books<br \/>\n&gt; are changed  two seasons annually&#8211;done twice a year in March and<br \/>\n&gt; in  July- plus the gallery page needs changing every 2 months.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Speak Truth to Power*,  is dedicated to the promotion of human<br \/>\n&gt; rights awareness. It is  a not-for-profit organization that seeks<br \/>\n&gt; to proactively engage the general public in an ongoing series of<br \/>\n&gt; issue-related events and educational outreach programs around the<br \/>\n&gt; world by leveraging the capacity of the arts to provide a forum for<br \/>\n&gt; individual action and to foster communication between human rights-<br \/>\n&gt; interested individuals and organizations. On the Speak Truth site<br \/>\n&gt; the home page needs monthly changes with an occasional urgent<br \/>\n&gt; action when one of our defenders is in jail or needs help&#8230;<br \/>\n&gt; Over the past three years, Speak Truth has grown from a book  (by<br \/>\n&gt; Kerry Kennedy  with photographs by Eddie Adams, edited by Nan<br \/>\n&gt; Richardson) exploring the quality of courage through the words of<br \/>\n&gt; leading human rights defenders around the world,  to the moving and<br \/>\n&gt; inspiring play by esteemed Chilean writer  and Broadway playwright<br \/>\n&gt; Ariel Dorfman, the stirring photographic exhibition by the late<br \/>\n&gt; Pulitzer Prize-winner Adams, a PBS documentary film, an education<br \/>\n&gt; packet, and five public service announcements on COURT TV. The play<br \/>\n&gt; has been produced to acclaim in many places, including Atlanta,<br \/>\n&gt; Geneva, London, Helsinki, Athens, Madrid , Barcelona, Rome,<br \/>\n&gt; Florence, Mantova, and Sydney.
