The Hidden Life of Trash

Nicholas is currently a research fellow at the Center for Urban Science and Progress developing citizen science initiatives and researching the impact and pervasiveness of waste in urban environments. He is the founder of Open Trash Lab, a living laboratory focused on the collaboration of the public, city government and industry towards improving the current waste system. Nicholas also works closely with the Public Lab as an organizer in New York City leading both education and balloon mapping waste landscapes events n the region. Nicholas is a graduate of New York University's Interactive Telecommunications program and when he's not obsessing over trash, can be found hacking and developing low-cost open source GSM networks.
