Technology has always had the capacity to elicit wonder, but technological progress in the twenty-first century has been lackluster in this regard. Where the nineteenth century reinvented itself with the help of technology and the early twentieth century was enchanted by the potentials of new forms of energy and communications, recent advances have not provoked the same sense of possibility.
We have a chance to re-engage with technology, to take stock of our relationship with the things we build, and I believe that concepts of wonder and magic are central to these efforts.


I have constructed a number of devices to test my own thoughts on the experience of wonder and will present my results and findings.
