The device is record player that draws the waveform of a slowly melting record. Inside of the player is an electric heating element that warms a cast-iron turntable. Connected to the output of the record player are motors that draw the waveform of the left and right stereo channels onto a roll of graph paper.

As the record heats, the waveform decays.
