acknowledged or otherwise

"There are many kinds of power, used and unused, acknowledged or otherwise," begins writer, poet and activist Audre Lorde in her essay "Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power." Here, women of different ages and backgrounds share experience from their personal and intimate lives in an interactive video installation the audience engages with using their mobile phone.

"There are many kinds of power, used and unused, acknowledged or otherwise," begins writer, poet and activist Audre Lorde in her essay "Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power." A small 6"x8" screen displays video images overlaid on audio interviews of several women speaking about their personal and intimate experiences. The audience calls a telephone number with their mobile phones to choose and play a video and hear the accompanying story in their phone. (with photography by Ava Berkofsky)

Audience
adults

User Scenario
The audience stands in front, calls the number and listens in their mobile phone while watching the video image projected from the rear onto the small screen.

Implementation
Plastic/velum screen with small wooden base (9"x8" total), computer connected to internet and small rear projector.

Conclusion
chroma key can be tricky and stop motion is very time-consuming. Java EAGI between flash and the asterisk (phone) server is also no joke.
