Redial: Interactive Telephony

Teletales is based on the idea that preserving stories is important, and should be easy, too. Almost everyone has a phone, and can use it to connect with friends or loved ones across distances. So, let the story sharing/saving begin! Users call in to Teletales (an asterisk-based phone system) and enter the number of the person with whom they would like to share a story. Teletales connects them and then records their call. Users can then log in to Teletales online to download and edit their audio recording to keep forever. They can also choose to share their story with other Teletales users. It is my hope that Teletales encourages us to call our loved ones more and have meaningful, thoughtful or just plain fun conversations while creating an artifact not simply of stories but of people we care about.

Audience
Teletales is for everyone, however, this project was initially conceived as a way of documenting my grandfather's stories. I hope that other people separated from their loved ones by distance, can use it to preserving stories from the people they love as well.
