Biomechanics for Interactive Design,Boxes and Lines for Rods and Cones: Video Programming in Max

Digital Conducting focuses on the mechanics of the human body specifically pertaining to the hand and arm motions used by a conductor. Using the kinect camera and the programming environment MaxMSP/Jitter, a users movements and gestures are closely tracked providing accurate beat tracking, tempo tracking and conducting cues which are then used to create and trigger audio and visual elements. The installation allows users the opportunity to experience the correlation between the motion of a conductor and the sound being produced by these movements.
