Project Warm Shell or A Bad Mamma Jamma and Other Concepts for a Dynamic Smart Home

Classes
Thesis

Project Warm Shell proposes innovative solutions that work together to make homes responsive to their users in order to create intuitive and effective automated environments.

Implementation
Project Warm Shell is a series of concepts that turn a home into a responsive and energy efficient environment. The concepts work together to create reciprocal relationships between appliances, users and businesses by using wifi-enabled current-tracking power strips, a dynamic home interface that responds to human cues and a Data Trade Market where collected power usage data. Unlike other systems that track power consumption at a building level, Project Warm Shell tracks consumption for individual devices to create a comprehensive, empirical, real world data set that is anonymized and commodified to generate income for the users.
