This project documents the everyday life of a grandmother in China, who lives with and takes care of the whole family in her 70s. Shooted from the perspective of a grandson, the documentary demonstrates Grandma's life as dope and dull at the same time. Aimed at raising the awareness of elderly people in China, some reflections are made in this documentary through voiceover. When watching the documentary, the audience will interact with the webpage. They can explore Grandma's life through the timeline or make decisions by clicking specific buttons on the webpage.
This project demonstrates an interactive story that is inspired by the movie “The Truman Show” (1998). In the film, Truman eventually makes it out of Seahaven Island; it won’t necessarily be the case in the interactive story. The audience will follow Truman's POV and explore different scenes in the story by interacting with objects on the webpage. They can even change the story by clicking buttons with different options.
