BeWell is a mobile health platform that enables people with chronic conditions to build supportive networks, connect with experts and make informed decisions about products and services.
There are 21 million college students in the United States, and 20% of youth have a chronic health condition. Students are often managing their health issues for the first time on their own at college. Youth with chronic illness are at particular risk for isolation and loneliness. The adaptation of these students to college life includes a lower quality of life and greater isolation compared to healthy peers.
BeWell is a mobile health platform that enables people with chronic conditions to build supportive peer networks, connect with experts and make informed decisions about products and services. Healthiecare is focused on the youth with chronic conditions, initially focused on helping college and university students with chronic health conditions, who are facing similar challenges, receive support, vital information and meet up on campus if they choose too. Using sensor data from smartphones combined with self-report changes in patterns of behavior can be detected to provide actionable insights to improve health outcomes.
Users will interact and provide feedback about the app on one screen. Additionally users will test a game, Your Activities of Daily Living that evaluates self-report changes in function in daily activities. Users will select images, receive feedback as well as provide feedback on the images currently presented as part of the participatory design process.
