Different People, Different Color and Different Location

John Namu Choi

A commentary about the differences between places in the US and the changes in those places over time through an analysis of the color and hashtags of Instagram photos taken in those places.

I want to document and analyze differences (or lack of differences) through an analysis of the color palettes and hashtags of specific locations over a period of time and relative to other places.
Instagram data is my content source and I abstracted the colors represented in the images and created a baseline for comparison with other places, times and hashtags. This work builds on a project that I did for Social Data analysis where I analyzed the changes in the color palette of Central Park over 365 days. This work inspired me to think about looking not just at a single place but at different places and comparing them.
