Description

It’s tempting to think of the virtual spaces of video games and computer animated films as simply imaginary versions of our own space where anything is possible. However, such spaces are human creations, subject to the limits of industry, popular taste, and the tools used to realize them. This project explores some of these “under the hood” forces. Presented as a part-essay, part-video game for the browser, it guides the player through the process by which points in a 3d model are positioned on the screen. The goal of this project is that its audience comes away with a greater understanding of how computer graphics work, as well as an appreciation of both the material limitations and creative possibilities of this medium.
