Description
“The Sun Also Rises” is a dynamic, web/based system enabling the release of regrets through a digital ritual, similar to lighting a candle in a temple. My goal is to demonstrate the potential of web art to serve as a spiritual companion. As an exploration of this, I created ‘Cyber Monk’, driven by the input of people’s regret stories, which are interpreted computationally into personalized and ritualized contents that allow for reflection and release.
If you have a regret and want to let it go, dial 424-373-4738(4243-REGRET). ‘Cyber Monk’ is activated real time to listen to regrets and perform personalized rituals derived from them. At the same time, it aggregates each personalized rituals from all participants and streams them as a collective landscape of regret. You can see through this that you are not alone, that regret is universal, a realization that is known to bring solace in overcoming negative emotions.
