I'm creating the messaging platform for both more expansive and better-protected mobile communities.
Open social communities like Yik Yak or Kik are optimized for virality and expansion. Their unencumbered growth come at the expense of protecting the user from increasingly prevalent nefarious threats.
Conversely, dedicated secure messaging platforms like Telegram and Signal are focused on sequestering, and therefore often stifling, communications.
The social platform I'm creating gives users the security advantages of a shielded messaging tool and the broadcast-like characteristics of a highly open platform.
Why now? The post-Snowden era has ushered in a huge population of significantly better educated users when it comes to both security and privacy.
