Description

This is a redesign program for the current NYU Library website to solve its user experience problem. Our users are 53,138 NYU students and the goal of the products is to meet the accessibility requirements of people with disabilities. Study shows there are 20% of students at NYU who have accessibility problems. NYU librarians compile the most useful and appropriate Library resources into the website to help students with their research based on the Library System. Every day students with disabilities browse the library website to search for useful resources, do the research and finish their papers. If the website doesn’t meet the metrics of accessibility, it will make resources not be searchable. How could we utilize accessibility metrics to make resources be searchable for students with a disability?

If you evaluate the current Libguide system, you will find it not to follow the accessibility principles and is not user-friendly and makes library resources which universities spent millions to buy become hard to be found for students. So my thesis devotes to redesign the system and recode it. I will conduct the accessibility principles to help the library to improve the accessibility problems. Besides, I will give suggestions on the website redesign and code part.
