How We Remember 9/11 Panel Discussion

How We Remember 9/11 * Panel Discussion with Rebecca Solnit, Ruth Sergel (ITP Alumna) and Brian Tolle

Thursday * November 17 * 6:30pm

The Gotham Center/CUNY Grad Center * Elebash Recital Hall
365 Fifth Avenue, NYC

Tickets can be purchased here.

I’m honored to be in discussion with Rebecca Solnit author of A Paradise Built in Hell, an amazing book on the communities that develop in response to disaster, and the wonderful Brian Tolle who created the Irish Hunger Memorial, steps away from the WTC site and under construction on 9/11. I’ll be presenting on  Voices of 9.11 as a people’s archive.

We will look at what is being commemorated and what is already being erased from the public memory. How did we respond in our communities in the immediate aftermath? How does the media and political onslaught shape our memory of 9/11?

Thanks to Suzanne Wasserman and the Gotham Center for NYC History for hosting this event. Please stop by and join the conversation.

See you in the streets!
