Blue Desert is an experimental film entirely rendered with Unreal Engine with tactile experience. Through its cinematic form and non-linear storytelling captured in a virtual world, I hope to reconstruct and bridge the irrevocable temporal fissure through the agency of my metahuman, bringing the mother and daughter together through and above time as a concept.

Abstract

In a journey through her shifting mindscape, a young woman attempts to untangle the mystery of her own identity. Drawn by her mother's whisper, she embarks on a poetic odyssey, seeking connection in the vast expanse where dreams intertwine with reality. "Blue Desert" is an immersive experience that unfolds as a girl unites with her mother in the future in a lyrical exploration of fragmented memories, offering a hauntingly beautiful testament to a daughter’s resilient pursuit of connection with her own mother.

Inspired by the writings of Jorge Louis Borges’s short story Garden of the Forking Path, The Circular Ruins, sci-fi experimental short La La Jetée by Chris Marker, and poetically elegant film Solaris by Andrei Tarkovsky and Kaili Blues by Bi Gan.
