Project Description

The fashion industry relies on an outdated sample-sharing process that is costly, time-consuming, and inefficient. Manufacturers must produce physical garment samples and ship them to buyers for approval before production, leading to significant delays and expenses—especially when multiple revisions are required.

StitchScape is a digital fashion platform that leverages 3D scanning and AR technology to eliminate these inefficiencies. By allowing manufacturers to scan and share garment samples instantly, buyers can review designs in real-time, visualize them on mannequins or models, and provide feedback without the need for physical shipping. Additionally, users can zoom in on specific areas of the 3D scan to check measurements and fit details, ensuring accuracy before production.

This streamlined approach reduces costs, accelerates approvals, and enhances precision, making fashion production more sustainable, accessible, and cost-effective for both manufacturers and buyers.

Technical Details

All UI/UX designs for StitchScape were created using Figma, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience. Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate were utilized for detailed graphic elements, illustrations, and branding. The 3D scanning and AR functionalities were developed and implemented using Swift UI, enabling an interactive and immersive experience for users. Lottie was integrated for smooth animations, enhancing the visual appeal of the app. Additionally, ChatGPT was used to assist in coding, troubleshooting, and optimizing specific features, streamlining the development process.

Research/Context

Interviews: The idea for StitchScape stems from my personal experience growing up in the fashion industry and witnessing the challenges firsthand. Conversations with many industry professionals including manufacturers and buyers confirmed that shipping samples back and forth is a major pain point due to its high cost and time inefficiencies.
Competitors: I researched existing digital fashion tools such as CLO 3D and Browzwear, which allow designers to create digital garment samples but do not facilitate real-time collaboration between manufacturers and buyers. Competitive analysis of brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Farfetch, which use virtual try-on technology, demonstrated that AR is an effective tool for visualizing garments in a realistic way.
Collaboration: StitchScape bridges the gap between manufacturers and buyers by offering a seamless, interactive platform that reduces sample approval timelines from weeks to days, cutting costs and making fashion production smarter and more sustainable.
