Project Description

Befriending the Spiral is a visual essay presented in a 3D web environment that seeks to engage viewers with critical notions of living within late stage capitalism through a defamiliarizing take on theory and models for existing within modern life. Pulling from Alex Quicho’s use of the mecha as metaphor for “climb[ing] into and pilot[ing] this already-existing subject that has the unique privilege of being greater than us all, yet thoroughly downplayed and underestimated,” the piece hopes to encourage greater understandings of the poetics of spaces existing without the status quo.
