Tilt

“Tilt” is an interactive experience that unfolds between two edges — the child who leaves home and the grandfather who returns to bring him back. The player becomes the author of everything that unfolds between them, exploring how our field of view expands as we encounter the world. Each decision transforms both the story and the experience itself.

Project Description
“Tilt” is an interactive experience exploring the concept of layers — the meaning of layers, the process of layering, and how layers contribute to the creation of something else. It highlights how layers, both in learning and meaning, shape experiences, influence stories, and form perspectives.
This thematic idea takes form in the structure of the experience itself, which expands between two edges: the child who leaves home, and the grandfather who comes to bring him back.
While the player becomes the author of everything that unfolds between them.
“Do I move through the world, or does the world move toward me?”
While navigating through the game, the player controls only the book — turning its pages left or right and tilting it up or down — without controlling the character.
At the heart of this mechanic is the ability to shape the main narrative by adding chapters to the story. In doing so, the experience explores how different combinations give rise to unique narratives within the same world — reinforcing the idea that meaning emerges through layering, sequence, and choice.
Is the book a reflection of the world, or a magnification of the child's inner world?
It was important for me to emphasize that this is a real-time experience, where decision-making actively shapes both the story and the evolution of the experience. Each new layer added to the narrative not only influences what comes next, but also redefines the chapters that came before, altering their meaning, tone, and memory.
Beginning between two adjacent edges, the child gradually discovers new parts of their world. This mirrors the concept of a field of view that expands as we encounter new information. Throughout the experience, the child walks the same path repeatedly, yet with the potential to notice something new along the way.
Technical Details
“Tilt” was developed in Unity, using C# for scripting and Blender for designing the world and its assets.
