A Movement Called Hip-Hop

As hip-hop approaches its 50th anniversary, there is an alarming scarcity of digital archives that preserve the history of this prominent culture. 'A Movement Called Hip' helps to solve this issue through an immersive experience that allows people to discover the artists, elements, and neighborhoods that shaped New York City, the birthplace of hip-hop.

Abstract

The lack of digital collections that commemorate hip-hop is quite bothersome. While visiting exhibitions, reading books, and searching the Internet, I found informative hip-hop artifacts that have yet to be discovered through digital means. I also found that specific exhibitions or historical readings do not explore the context of New York City when discussing hip-hop, especially its landmarks, and communities. As of this day, the only known digital collection dedicated to hip-hop is the Cornell Hip-Hop Collection, which is still a work in progress. As a result of this research, I found a medium and a solution that can be innovative, educational, and interactive. 'A Movement Called Hip-Hop' is an app solution validated through the research conducted and covers all relevant and intriguing information about the hip-hop movement. Although there are original archives available to the public, this idea proves to perserve a culture that affects the world in ways unimaginable.
