Get outside! See where your food waste goes! Come to Earth Matter (www.earthmatter.org) on Governors Island and help around the compost learning center! Then you can play with the baby goats and chickens that live there (their poop is key to making amazing compost).
You would arrive on the 9 am ferry and return to Manhattan on the 1:00 pm ferry.
RSVP mandatory since I need to give names to the ferry. We will be going over there before the general public. If you do not plan on coming PLEASE UN-RSVP! Thank you. It will be fun!
Governors Island is a 172 acre island in the heart of New York Harbor. It’s only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and even closer to Brooklyn. It is a world unto itself, From 1783 to 1966, the island was a United States Army post, and from 1966 to 1996 the island served as a major United States Coast Guard installation. Now, it's a huge park where you can climb the Hills (hill-y landscapes offering unreal 360-degree views of New York Harbor), chill in hammocks, walk. bike (the island is car-free), see art or attend one of the many cool events that happen there.

Can I bring a child?

@Shindy Johnson How old? If we are working at the center, it might be hard to watch a child (teenager is fine); but you are welcome to bring a friend to play somewhere else. The island has so many fun things for kids.
