We'll be creating explosive abstract art using Blender's displacement modifier. Blender is a free, open source and surprisingly powerful 3D modeling tool available to designers, artists and hobbyists alike. We will have a quick lay of the land regarding 3D software, examine Blender's interface and then we'll get right into it.

A few things to note:

  1. Please make sure to download the software prior to the session:

https://www.blender.org/download/

  1. Secondly try to watch this tutorial for how to navigate Blender as it can be a little counter intuitive:

  1. It is CONSIDERABLY easier to navigate Blender's interface if you have a three button mouse (aka any mouse with the wheely bit in the middle). I will be teaching the session as if you have one of these so please try to bring one or potentially see if the help desk have any available :)
