Augmenting the World with Light - Projection Mapping

Crash course in projection mapping! Learn how to take control of light in a whole new way, and augment the world around you with video, animations, color, code, simulated lighting, data visualizations & more.

We’ll start with a quick conceptual overview of the medium, analyze various opportunities/limitations of projection, then dive into a crash course with a few live demos, using the room around us as a canvas, using MadMapper.

From there, we can add simple MIDI input for interactivity, sound analysis for audio reactive installations, or use Syphon to pull in other sources.

We'll also dive into structured light scanning to show how this method enables more precise work.

This workshop will also include a bunch of tips I’ve learned & discovered over the past several years setting up light installations. Feel free to bring specific questions or just general curiosities. Let's get lit!
